Introduction:
As an international student from China, where English is the second language required to study since elementary school, I haven spent more than 12 years learning English. After my struggling in the first two months studying and living in America, I find myself not the person I thought who could master English and have no problem using it. The language gap does exist which causes me trouble in understanding native speakers or expressing myself during communication with others. Like Richael states in her literacy narrative, we can ‘read through an English page and understand it without checking dictionary.’ But we ‘find it difficult to put English into daily dialogue or to understand the idioms in conversations.’ and it is sometimes very difficult to react quickly enough to what others are saying and what words should use in this situation. These experience appear to be a problem for most Chinese international student.. With the assumption that the reasons behind the language gap relate to the way of English teaching in China., this bibliography tends to find the answers to the questions: What is the way of English teaching in China? How it affects Chinese students’ using English? How to improve the teaching method in China?
